“Commercium Amicitias Facit”: Fundamentum Strategiae VOC.

Societas Indiae Orientalis Batavica (VOC), anno 1602 condita, una ex potentissimis mercatorum societatibus in historia orbis terrarum facta est. Eius prosperitas partim innitebatur praecepto quod etiam nunc valet: “Commercium amicitias facit.” Haec sententia exprimere voluit opinionem qua relationes mercatoriae mutuo utiles essent claves ad diuturnas coniunctiones cum principibus localibus et aliis potestatibus Europaeis constituendas. Haec pragmatica ratio cooperationem prae conflictu posuit, quamquam hoc principium non semper pure in praxi adhibebatur.
